Wetherspoon set to close more pubs across the country – full list of affected locations

Wetherspoon is facing closures across the UK, with at least 19 pubs at risk this year. The pub chain has already closed at least 20 restaurants in the last few months.

A total of 19 pubs are currently under offer. Last year, Wetherspoon announced that it would be selling more than 30 pubs due to the chain struggling to compete with its pre-Covid levels.

Chairman Tim Martin commented on the potential closures, and said that the aftermath of the pandemic restrictions was “far more difficult than anyone thought”.

He added: “People thought that after lockdown there would be a boom in people suffering from cabin fever but, instead, it has almost been the opposite situation as people have got in the habit of staying in.”

The Willow Grove in Lord Street, in Southport, closed its doors on March 5, while The Sir John Stirling Maxwell, in Glasgow, shut down permanently on March 26.
