George Harrison died 23 years ago at just 58, after losing his battle with cancer and would have been 81-years-old on Sunday.

Celebrating his incredible life and legacy, Sir Paul McCartney paid tribute to the Quiet Beatle on social media, alongside his widow Olivia Harrison.

The latter shared a special birthday video, as did the official George Harrison Instagram account with over 1 million followers.

Photos of the star who died in 2001 play along with Hari’s on Tour (Express), the opening track of his 1974 album Dark Horse.

A recording of Harrison’s voice his heard saying: “It’s being here now that’s the important thing. Y’know there’s no past and then there’s no future. Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever is the now.”

And at the end of the video these touching words appear: “We Love You, George.”

Meanwhile, Sir Paul McCartney posted a photograph of himself with Harrison singing together in the studio. The snap was taken by Macca’s late wife Linda McCartney, who also sadly died from cancer in her fifties just three years before the Quiet Beatle.

Macca simply captioned the post: “Happy Birthday George. Love ya! – Paul.”
