The award ceremony took place at the Palacio Real de El Pardo, or the Royal Palace of El Pardo, one of the official residences of the Spanish Royal Family that is currently used as a state guest house. Queen Letizia and King Felipe live at the Zarzuela Palace, their main residence in Madrid.

For today’s occasion, Queen Letizia chose a chic red ensemble featuring long puffed sleeves and a flowy skirt from the fashion brand Bimani.

The Spanish monarch combined the stylish dress with a pair of red stilettos from Magrit and donned gold and ruby drop earrings from Gold and Roses, matching her entire outfit.

The Queen also sported one of her favourite rings: a maxi gold design from Spanish jewellers Coreterno.

Letizia is a fan of red monochrome looks and often wears the shade, perhaps to represent the Spanish national flag which features the colours yellow and red, or it could have a deeper meaning.

According to a recent study by the University of Durham, women who wear red head to toe are perceived as good leaders.

However, these red looks can also be “intimidating” for other people and in the case of Queen Letizia, it suggests she is a strong and confident woman.

Royal fans took to social media to praise Queen Letizia’s look with many saying red is “her colour”.

Instagram user @tebete___ commented: “Perfect” and @patriciacamperra simply said: “So pretty!”
