Who will be the next James Bond? This is a question fans have been asking since before Daniel Craig announced he’d be back in No Time To Die.

It’s now been almost two years since that movie released and we’re still awaiting an official announcement.

In the meantime, the bookies’ odds race continues to move around with the latest news concerning a former runner-up for 007.

Henry Cavill, who came second to Daniel Craig for Casino Royale during the 2005 auditions, has had his odds slashed.

As it stands he’s now gaining on other favourites like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who’s rumoured to have had a secret audition to be the next Bond.

William Kedjanyi, spokesperson for Star Sports, said: “Following some notable money for Henry Cavill to become the next James Bond actor, we’ve narrowed our price for the Superman star to assume the vacancy left by Daniel Craig.

“The 40-year-old had previously seen his price drift throughout the calendar year but has come back into 4/1 from 5/1 since the start of last week, suggesting there may yet be another twist in the search for our next 007.

“That price still only makes Cavill the fourth favourite to be awarded the role despite support from our punters, with James Norton remaining the 5/2 frontrunner and Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Damson Idris (both 3/1) likewise in contention.”
