‘Game changer’ makeup tip for women over 40

When it comes to looking younger, women have plenty of options. From hair dye to hair extensions, and skincare to cosmetic ‘tweakments’ and treatments, ladies do not have to be content with growing old gracefully.

Makeup is probably the quickest, easiest fix if you want to take a few years off your age.

MrsMelissaM, a YouTube creator with 149,000 subscribers, shared her top tip for a younger-looking neck and jaw area, two areas mature women tend to struggle with.

In a video entitled ‘Game Changing Makeup Tips & Tricks Over 40’, the makeup enthusiast told women they can sculpt these potential problem areas with just contour and a brush.

She said: “The first tip I’m going to share with you is actually one that I came up with out of necessity for my ageing skin, particularly my ageing neck.”

Hinsdale Vein & Laser stated: “The neck is often a place that shows signs of ageing far before other body areas, yet it is frequently neglected.

“Skin begins to sag with time, muscles can stretch, and excess fat can cause the neck to lose its shape and make you appear older.”

But MrsMelissaM, who was 53 years old at the time of posting, has a hack that can help to conceal this inevitable ageing.

The YouTuber continued, gesturing to her neck: “I decided I was going to find a way to make that look longer, and possibly disguise this a little bit so it’s not so badly seen.”

For this hack, all you need is a bronzer brush – preferably fan-shaped – and a contour. MrsMelissaM uses a Focallure matte bronzer powder.

Load up your brush with bronzer and start by sweeping it under your chin. Then, bring the brush from your chin up your jawline on each side. The aim of this is to get a “crisp-looking” jawline.

Return to the chin area with your brush and form a ‘Y’ shape from both sides of the chin to the neck, bringing the bronzer down. Blend it in, then make sure to blend it outwards to ensure an even colour.

Another influencer shared a genius tip for looking younger in seconds with makeup alone. This trick can be applied for both bronzer and blusher.

Shea Whirtney said: “What you need to do when you’re applying your contour or your blush, don’t smile. You really just want to focus it up on the tops of your cheekbones.”
