The last couple of months have been very busy for Queen and Adam Lambert who have been touring North America.
Amid all the concerts, Sir Brian May has been grieving the loss of his driver and bodyguard of over 30 years Philip Webb, who suddenly died on October 12.
Yesterday the 76-year-old shared that he’d attended the funeral and wrote on social media: “I haven’t been able to write an Instagram post since the tour finished and I finally journeyed home. Just didn’t have it in me.
“It’s a very strange feeling waking up in your own bed after 7 weeks during which you CANNOT get back to your family … even if one of your dearest friends dies back home.
“Waking up at all the wrong times with an ache in your heart and most of your limbs aching too. Exhaustion, jet lag, and a lot of grief and disorientation – not the popular picture of the life of a lifelong supposedly road-toughened rock star.”
Today, just four days after the funeral, also marks the 32nd anniversary of Freddie Mercury’s death at just 45, adding to poor Sir Brian’s grief.
Sharing a video of his friend Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi today, the guitarist briefly referred to the anniversary of Freddie losing his battle with AIDS.
He wrote: “Today’s a sad and quiet private day for me – I won’t be posting any more. Take care out there. Bri.”
