Dolly Parton shoots down plans to create virtual version of herself | Music | Entertainment

Dolly Parton has been quizzed over whether she’ll be resurrecting her younger self for a virtual concert in the near future.

The question comes after ABBA just extended their ABBA Voyage experience in London for another year, a concert where the band’s virtual, younger selves perform to sold-out crowds.

And while ABBA have made a staggering amount of money for these concerts despite not actually performing each night, Parton doesn’t believe it’s something she will be doing.

She said: “I think I’ve left a great body of work behind. I have to decide how much of that high-tech stuff I want to be involved [with] because I don’t want to leave my soul here on this earth.” (Via The Independent)

The 77-year-old went on to say that her work would speak for itself long after her death.

Parton has been working in the music industry since the 1950s, and believes this is enough to keep her alive and well into the future.

“I think with some of this stuff I’ll be grounded here forever,” she said. “I’ll be around, we’ll find ways to keep me here.”

With that said, she went on to joke about her appearance, which is complete with fake nails, breasts and hair extensions.

McCartney said his music engineers used technology to “extricate John’s voice from a ropey little bit of cassette”.

He went on: “We had John’s voice and a piano and he could separate them with AI. They tell the machine: ‘That’s the voice. This is a guitar. Lose the guitar’.

“So when we came to make what will be the last Beatles’ record, it was a demo that John had [and] we were able to take John’s voice and get it pure through this AI. Then we can mix the record, as you would normally do. So it gives you some sort of leeway.”
