A 29-year-old American woman, Iniki MacColl, who moved to the UK for love, has explained the most perplexing British customs she has encountered since her move.

Hailing from Saint Cloud, Florida, Iniki now lives in Peterborough with her British husband and has become a content creator, sharing insights into the unique aspects of life across the pond.

In her TikTok videos, Iniki has highlighted various aspects, ranging from peculiar phrases that left her bewildered to the abundance of choices in British grocery stores.

One notable cultural difference she pointed out was British people’s calm demeanour during times of crisis.

In one of the clips, Iniki recounted a specific anecdote that sparked this belief after her husband stumbled upon a rather unnerving situation.

However, after so many years together, Iniki noticed that her American customs began to rub off on her partner too.

She explained: “When I met Sam over six years ago, I would have described him as the typical Brit – beautiful accent, sarcastic humour and that British charm and politeness.

“However, now he uses a lot of the same American terminology as me – chips are now fries to him, football is now soccer.

“He is also way more obsessed with American football than I ever was and spends all of the fall and winter watching all the games he can, early into the wee morning hours.”
